Do you ever get tired of digging in drawers and bins to find the match the earrings you want to wear? I do! I’ve seen several ideas in blog-land on how to tame the accessory mess and today I’m sharing my own DIY Accessory Holder!
In my opinion, every good project starts with a thrifty find, usually at a thrift store. This one was no different. I started with a ho-hum frame I found at Goodwill; I choose this one because it was nice and chunky!
{Before Accessory Holder}
Step #1: Take frame apart and safely dispose of glass.
Step #2: Prime frame with Kilz Spray Primer (my BFF).
Step #3: Spray paint from with Rust-Oleum Spray Paint in Aqua.
Step #4: Cut Canvas Dropcloth fabric a little larger than the backing of the frame.
Step #5: Using Spray Adhesive, glue canvas onto frame backing.
TIP: Make sure to spray glue in the garage or outside, the over-spray will add a sticky glue-like residue to everything around the spot you are spraying…ask me how I know!
Step #6: Cut Chicken Wire fencing to fit back of frame.
TIP: Chicken wire fencing is really sharp, use gloves and a sharp wire cutter to cut to fit.
Step #7: Spray paint wire using white Rust-Oleum Enamel Spray Paint.
Step #8: Distress edges of frame with sandpaper.
Step #9: Put pieces together from the back. Staple the chicken wire into the frame, place the canvas-covered backing over the wire and secure the back (I re-positioned the original staples from the page back in place).
Step #10: Hang your earrings – YAHOO!
{ After DIY Accessory Holder}
TIP: You can customize this project with different colored frames, various sizes, and other choices of fabrics for the background. Can you imagine a gallery wall in your closet full of cute DIY Accessory Holders? I could, drool.
Love you more than having organized earrings,
