The definition of a great friend can include many qualities. For me, one of them is a friend who will keep her eyes peeled at garage sales, thrift shops, and even the side of the road for furniture. Yes, I am THAT friend, I’m the one telling everyone to grab a roadkill table if they spot it. My sweet friend Lynda, does this quite frequently and her last find was the cutest table ever! It goes like this, I get a text with a picture, a price and a yes or no – simple as that. Last week, when this picture showed up I was more than excited with my YES!!
The gentlemen selling the table decided to screw 4 bars across the legs to make it sturdy – WHAAA??? He screwed them in with the longest screws ever; took me forever to get them out!
Not only did I need to fill these awful screw holes, but there was quite a bit of peeling wood off the top that needed to be filled in as well. A painter friend recently tipped me off to using a product I would have never thought of. It’s called “Evercoat” putty; it’s used to fill dents in on cars. Crazy right? The stuff is magic in a tube – no joke!
I had to make good use of it on my little table.
One nice thing about this stuff is that it dries fast, depending on how deep the hole is you have to fill. It also sands really nicely. It becomes more muted and really smooth.
I recently purchased some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and love it! For this table I decided to go with Old White and French Linen.
First, I painted the majority of the table with the French Linen and then did a couple of accent areas with Old White.
Last I used Annie Sloan Wax to give it an ‘aged’ look.

Can I just say this is the Cutest Little Table Ever?!! I makes me smile!
Love you more than finding a great piece and being able to make it CUTE!
