Everyone loves a cute memo-board, right? The great thing about them is there are SO MANY options. I recently did a segment on Twin Cities Live for their College Week. We shared idea’s on making 3 different types of memo-boards. You can take these idea’s and adapt them to any room, any theme or any color!
{Twin Cities Live Segment}
{DIY Cork Board}
The first thing I did was find a frame that was large enough and found the perfect one at Goodwill for $4.99!
I had recently priced out individual cork board squares and found 12 x 12 squares at Target for $6.99 per 4 pack. I figured there HAD to be a cheaper way! I lucked out and found an old cheap cork-board at Goodwill for $0.99 that fit perfectly into my frame!
First, I spray painted the frame and the matt (yes you can spray paint a matt for a frame) with Rust-Oleum Canyon Black Spray Paint.
Next, I printed the U of M logo and traced it onto the cork-board. I used acrylic paint ($0.97 Walmart) to paint the “M” and a yellow paint marker for the outline. I took about 5 minutes!
{DIY Fabric Memo Board}
I made this memo board with some beautiful fabric, ribbon, buttons, and an old canvas I had on hand. I found a great DIY Memo Board tutorial at The Frugal Girls. I followed their easy directions and also discovered their amazing blog; follow the link for the complete instructions.
{DIY Crib Board}
Somewhere I got the idea to use an old crib box spring to hang things on – like a memo board. I found a free crib on Craigslist, they are listed all the time! I simply tied ribbons in between the grates and used clothespins to hang what I wanted.I didn’t NEED the ribbon, but it gave it a bit of a ‘cute’ look. The beauty of this project is you could easily spray paint the box spring if you wanted and use any color ribbon if you wanted.
The last I idea I shared on the segment was how to make cute flower push pins. Check out this previous post on how to make them: Fake Flower Fabulousness.
