Fall Love {Pumpkins}

Can I just say I LOVE parties? Well, I do. I really love fall parties. I linked up my Adorable Fall Votives at the “Countdown to Fall” Linky Party. Click the button to visit the party and see all the amazing fall ideas!

Domestically Speaking

I found adorable Pumpkin Topiaries from Sand & Sisal made by Kim and just had to make some… as in the same day! To see them – they are gorgeous-  simply click her button; she’s got lots of cuteness over on her blog.

{Before Pumpkin Topiaries – my version}
I started with the pots I use for spring, I didn’t want to buy anything I didn’t have too!
Kim used gorgeous urns - so jealous! Being I had to work with what I had on hand, I gave them a fresh coat of  paint using my ‘go-to’ color, Rust-Oleum Heirloom White.
I started with these 6 pumpkins. They were 40% off at Michaels, but still added up so fast!
I like the cream pumpkins, but they feel a little stark to me; so I glazed them.
Glazing it so EASY. Simply brush black glaze on and then wipe of excess with a slightly damp rag – that’s it!

Next, I cut the holes in the bottoms. I took Kim’s advice and used a box cutter to cut the holes in the bottoms of the pumpkins, easy peasy!
I absolutely loved the ribbon Kim choose and found the same ones at my local Michaels. I layered them on with my glue gun, one color at a time. I found it was easiest to measure and cut all the strips first so they would all be the same; I also wanted to make sure the ‘loop’ was long enough to show between pumpkins.
I also love the berries Kim choose, I found these at Michaels too! I did make a mistake (GASP), I glued the beads on before gluing the pumpkins together; don’t do what I did! The beads made it difficult to glue the pumpkins together because the surface wasn’t as flat as it could be.
This is how they looked before I had to pull them off and start over!
The fun part was putting all the pumpkins together. My nice hubby took care of the stick in the middle and getting them into the pots.. he’s the best!
I used raffia in the bottom of my pot as a filler. I still haven’t decided if I want to add anything else.
{After Pumpkin Topiaries}
I’m also considering putting the topiaries in old milk jugs but, I have to paint them first.
What do you think?
I love this project because the possibilities are endless!
Different colors and sizes of pumpkins (don’t forget you can spray paint them), so many options of ribbons and accents and a huge range of what you could use for fillers in the bottom… SO MUCH FUN!
Here’s an example of a couple of pumpkins I spray painted for my fall mantle (cream and blue):
I would love to see your  ’topiary’ version!

Love you more than pumpkins,
Sunday
P.S. There is some sort of glitch in my WordPress today – it won’t allow me to add extra lines so everything looks squishy – sorry!
