My Friday posts are all about a good ‘find’. This week I found an amazing blog: Home Savvy A to Z. Erin has great tips for your home on everything from well, A to Z. She was so sweet as have me as a Guest Blogger (that’s a big deal) on her blog today – so go check her blog and my post – YAHOO!
Being I had this opportunity over at another blog I thought it would be fun to have a guest today too – since, I’m gone and all. A good friend is a great ‘find’! Jerra McIntosh is one of my good friends and she is an amazing DIY’er.
{Jerra’s Saloon Door Project}
Jerra’s find were these saloon doors she snagged up at a garage sale for $1 each, for a grand total of $2!
{Before Saloon Doors}
Step #1: Paint doors with Rustoleum Canyon Black Spray Paint (because this project will be hung on the wall there was no need to paint the back – yay for easy!)
Step #2: Attach doors together using wood glue (clamp overnight to dry) and screw plates to secure (one plate across the top and one across the bottom).
Once the doors are ready – the fun really starts!
Gather supplies to hang on doors. Jerra picked up a few frames she liked from her local Goodwill, a letter M and cute ribbon from JoAnne Fabrics.
Step #3: Spray paint items using Krylon Cherry Red and distress (sand the edges) to give them a ‘weathered’ look.
Step #4: Arrange items, deciding where you want to hang them.
Step #5: Using a drill, make small holes and screw in eye hooks to hang accessories.
Step #6: Attach ribbon to the back of accessories to hang.
Step #7: Hang photos of cute kids, AKA – Three Freckles!
{After Salon Doors}
What a fantastic idea for $2 Saloon Doors – great Friday Find!
Not only does Jerra do cute projects like this one, she makes and sells beautiful wreaths.
