{Garage Sale Lamp with Canvas Fabric}

I have another garage sale find to share! I found a pair of lamps for only $10 during my Twin Cities Live segment.

If you missed it, click HERE.

What fun would a garage sale lamp be without a DIY garage sale lamp makeover?

I didn’t take a before picture…duh. This shows the lamp after I spray painted it white.  It was as definite improvement from the brass, but still was a little stuffy for my taste.

{Before Lamp Shade}

The problem: the lampshade. To start the process I removed the fabric from the skeleton of  the frame and spray painted it with Rustoleum White Enamel Spray Paint  (not pictured).

I decided to use my new ‘go to’ fabric: canvas drop cloths.  Thankfully I had some leftover pieces from another project so I didn’t even have to buy any!

Make a small cut with scissors and rip the rest of the fabric to the end of the piece to make strips.

Tie the strips of fabric round the lamp shade, starting at the top.

Going back around,  tie the bottom of the canvas strip around the bottom of the frame. I had to trim it as I went.

{After Lamp Shade}

Here she is in her new home, my room! Now, I have just have to do the 2nd one. I love a good garage sale lamp makeover; especially for $5!

I got the original idea from Désirée at The 36th Avenue and her adorable craft room fabric lampshade, check it out – it’s so cute!

*SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT*

If you’ve followed my blog you know I have been in the middle of an amazing story, fighting breast cancer. I’ve written about my story, but now I will be sharing it live!  Besides being a wife and mom, my ‘day job’ is a youth pastor. I will be preaching at one of the weekend services (twice) called “The Fifth Service” at my home church, Living Word Christian Center.

I’d like to invite you to do one of 2 things:

1. If you live in the area, come to the 6:30pm service Sunday July 8th and the 15th.  I’d love to meet you! For information on the church, Living Word Christian Center, or directions click HERE.

2. If you’d like to watch the service live you can do it via the Living Word Christian Center Webcast by clicking HERE.

Reading someone’s story can give you a glimpse into their heart; hearing them can give you full on view! I hope you can come or watch me share this big story. My goal is for it to be as encouraging to you as the Lord has been to me through this entire situation.

Sunday, July 8th: Message #1 – Keep Calm

Sunday, July 15th: Message #1 – Trust in Him

Last if you have a Keep Calm t-shirt please wear it, I’ll be wearing mine!

 Love you more than knowing I can tell a whole bunch of people a story of God’s goodness to me,

Sunday

  2. Sunday, I love this lampshade! I’m a lampshade styler from way back! I really need to put together a post about it. May you “stay calm and trust in him” as you are sharing on the next two Sundays.

    • Thanks Karen – I think this lampshade is one of my favorite things I’ve done :) Thank you for the encouraging words – I really do need to ‘stay calm’ – LOL. Have a great weekend!

  3. Great project. I love lampshade re-makes. Glad you linked up to Hot Fun in the Summer blog party. Hope to see you next week.

  4. Hi again, Sunday. One other request. We are so glad you linked up but next week could you please make sure you use the party button instead of Bliss’s button. It’s a group effort. It’s partly our fault for not making the proper button more prominent. Thanks again. I know you have a lot on your plate right now.
