Makeovers on the {Smalls} in the Room

Did you see my post Monday, How to Paint Stripes on Furniture?

If you missed it, check it out as this is the second post for ‘Mom’s Makeover Present’. Today, I want to show you the makeovers on the smalls in the room.

This project reminds me of my favorite children’s book, “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”. If you give your mom a desk makeover she’ll want a new chair to go with it. If she has a gorgeous new desk with a new chair, she’ll want her bookshelf to match. If you makeover her bookshelf to match she’ll want a place to read the books on the bookshelf.  In order to give her a place to read the books on the bookshelf, she’ll  need a chair and ottoman. If you paint the chair and ottoman to match the bookshelf that has her books, she’ll need a lamp to read. If you give her a lamp to read her books, she’ll need a nightstand for the lamp.  If you love your mom, you’ll do it for her!

{Makeovers on the Smalls in the Room}

The Chair – I had this chair sitting in my garage waiting for a makeover. I think I paid $2.50 for it some time ago. It fit perfectly with mom’s desk so I gave it a little DIY magic to make it work.

After a little paint and wax it turned out beautiful and the fabric tied it all together!

This was a simple, staple the fabric to the cushion project; I even cheated and stapled the piping on too!

The Bookshelf -  We found this cute little bookshelf to sit opposite the desk in mom’s room; it started as an old oh-hum wood color. I painted and waxed it to coordinate with desk/hutch and it turned out adorable!

The details and touches of green really make it work with her other new pieces.

The Night Stand -  I found this little nightstand at Goodwill for $2.00 – SCORE. I was painting it along side mom’s project while I had the paint and supplies out. Wouldn’t you believe it ended up coordinating her pieces. And surprise of all surprises, she wanted it for her room too!

Stay tuned for the big “reveal” of the finished Desk/ Hutch and the all the details of how I made them over! I know I said, it would be Friday, but I just had too much to show you to cram in all in one post! Monday will be the day!

Love  you more than being able to make the best mom around smile,

Sunday
