Last week I shared bits and pieces of the boys’ room make-over and I’m so excited to show you the official ‘reveal’. I was going for a locker room look and feel and it really came together!
{Before Boys Room}
DIY Mom to the rescue!
{After Boys Room}
The biggest part of the project was the ‘locker wall’ I created using metal lockers and a 3 piece entertainment center. If you missed the post with the details click HERE.
As you know, making a room come together is in the details.
Here’s some of the little (cheap) touches:
- DIY sports art – $8.99 each
- Basketballs, trophies and hats to fill in the top – FREE
- Stenciled names on top of the lockers – FREE
- Small Ottomans - Kohl’s $15 each on clearance
- Small picture frames by window, repainted gray – FREE
After the locker wall, the bunk beds (and the placement in the room), needed a make-over.
I went with neutral colors: black, gray and taupe which allowed me to grudgingly happily let them keep some of their favorite bright colored sports items. We needed a little nightstand next to the bottom bunk; I got this one for FREE off Craigslist. All it needed was a coat of primer (Kilz) and black paint (same as DIY lockers).
Here’s what I added for this side of the room:
- Bedding – Target Clearance $35 (blanket and 2 shams each)
- Curtain Panels -Walmart $10 each
- Pillows Sports Decor – FREE
- Nightstand – FREE
The last wall has my DIY art work, which fills the wall space perfectly. It’s simple and best of all it was cheap. If you missed how I made it, check out the post HERE. Total cost of art: $9.99
The boys are happy and their friends gave me a nod of approval too!
What do you think? Do you think it’s hard to decorate a boys’ room without it being a big yawn? Let me know!
Next, I’ll be revealing the transformation to my daughter’s room, it’s so fun!
Love you more than a big ol’ finished project!
