The No-Sew Sewing Machine Table

I found this cute little table, which just happens to be an old sewing machine, at Goodwill for $5 – WHOOP, WHOOP! It was the perfect size for the little spot by my front door. Seriously, I had been looking forever for something for this spot so you can imagine my excitement when I found this for so cheap. Of course, I couldn’t leave it as it was, it needed a little make-over, Sunday style.

I decided to start with my DIY Chalk Paint Recipe – it works like magic! I love it because you don’t have to prime the piece and it also distresses wonderfully. I used a mis-tint green paint I already had on hand. After 2 coats of green, I wanted to add a little more character and fun to the table; I went with stripes.

Using Scotchblue Painter’s Tape, I taped of the stripes (to make it easy, I simply used the width of the tape to measure out the stripes).

Paint right over the stripes (the tape will cover up the other color).

Remove the tape immediately after you’re done painting the stripes. You may have to do a little bit of touch up, at least I did.

I also painted the front of the door and a few spots around the legs. I had never been quite this adventurous with paint, but I was so happy with how it turned out! After I finished painting, I distressed the entire table.

After painting and distressing it, I glazed it lightly with black glaze. To see instructions on how to glaze click HERE.

Do you have an old sewing machine table sitting around? Would it make a good table? I love to re-purpose old things for a new use!

Love you more than my cute little table,

Sunday
