Word for Your Wednesday

{Absorb}

The definition of absorb is: to take (something) in. As women we use a variety of products that absorb: diapers, towels, mops, and tampons to name a few.  The past few weeks the idea of absorb as taken on new meaning for me.

If you follow my blog you know I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and had surgery May 1st (read the story HERE). After surgery, I had 4 drains put in. Drains are super fun, *INSERT SARCASM HERE*.  The hospital gave me a special cami with secret pockets to house my 4 new friends. They needed to be emptied and drained daily - oh joy.  The best part about having drains was attempting to shower and keep the area dry.  Praise the Lord for an amazing sister who can help you shower while you’re laughing your butts off.

 Once the drains were removed, I was left with 4 small holes which may or may not leak. In my case, 3 holes healed over and 1 hole is still leaking.  I have a hole in my body that leaks – CRAZY WEIRD.

I’m always looking for gauze, napkins, toilet paper, and even nursing pads to try to absorb the fluid. I was able to enjoy a quick get away with my mom and sis last week and brought huge bandages to keep the leaking under control.  The perfect pool accessory!

Wouldn’t you know it, I ran out of  supplies the last night of our vacay. In our attempt to make anything work, we folded up tissue and used a panty-liner as the tape to make it stick!

Yes, this is me with my panty-liner bandage . Hey, maybe Carefree should add this to their commercials!

As I have been looking for things that absorb, I couldn’t help but think that not only does tissue, towels, and gauze absorb; we absorb too. God made us that way; His desire is for us to absorb Him or be filled with Him.

 Ephesians 3:19 (AMP) “That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]!

Having a personal experience of His love is to be fully absorbed by Him or completely filled with Him. He wants us to absorb His love – a complete saturation.

I can be happy, even while trying to absorb leaking fluid, because I’m absorbing Him. Remember the definition of absorb is: to take something in – we can take Him in.  Before you know it you’ll be so saturated with Him there won’t be room for anything else!

Love you more than becoming a sue-do nurse constantly changing bandages!
