Vintage Felipe Derflingher sold Brutalist Caged Glass Mugs, Caged Imprisoned Glass Barware, Amber Glass Mugs, set of 2, 1960s Mexican Art Glass
Set of two (2) Brutalist style glass and metal handblown glass mugs by Mexican glass artist Felipe Derflingher, circa 1960s.
Derflingher was an expert in this type of glasswork - handblowing glass into the metal form, resulting in the molten glass bulging out of the openings in the metal. This is known as "imprisoned glass" or "caged glass".
The glass is a dark, amber brown contrasted with the lighter metal cage. The handles were applied after.
The mugs measure approximately 6 3/4" tall x 3 5/8" diameter. There is some slight variation in the sizes, so measurements should be considered approximate. Heavy, substantial pieces.
No chips or cracks. Bubbles in the glass as is common with handblown pieces. The metal is oxidized, as shown. Some rust. Mugs are slightly different sizes and have different handle shapes/placement. Bottoms are rough where they were cut off.

Unless you request pictures of the specific glasses you will receive, you will receive my choice. I will try and match them up according to size sold the best I can. Your glasses may be slightly different sizes due to the variation. Photos show a mix of the different glasses. Some are marked with an original store sticker, and some are not. One glass has a Made in Mexico sticker taped on.
