Product code: Signed & Dated sold 1928 Cross Stitch Needlepoint MUSEUM Sampler in Period Frame
This antique sampler was made in early 1900's from a pattern by a young maiden during the wildly popular American Colonial Revival period. An exact version of this sampler is part of the Colonial Williamsburg (Virginia) Museum Collection. You can see the museum's sampler by typing the quote into a search engine. The Colonial Williamsburg Museum's sampler has different initials as each crafter personalized with their work. It's in a period 1920's frame which I won't touch. All I did was lightly dust it. I will not remove it from the frame which I feel is part of the artifact because it is period. FRAME SIZE 10.75” x 13.75” Under Glass CONDITION NOTES Excellent preserved artifact. Frame is nicked in one corner (last photo), shows some minor scuffing. If I was going to keep this piece, I would retain it in the original frame but sold take it to a professional to have it reframed with archival glass . That would preserve the textile from UV damage and be non-glare. FIRMi.
