Often called America's jazz age sport, from the 1920s to the 1940s Indoor cycling on a large high banked wooden track produced some of the countries highest paid and most popular athletes. Teams of two men would sling-shot each other around the track to gain distance on their rivals. Races were held at both Cleveland Public hall and The Cleveland Arena. Often one rider would sleep while the other rode. They were able to cover distances of almost three thousand miles in the six day race.
