The word encaustic originates from the Greek word enkaustikos which means to burn in, referring to the heat applied to each layer of wax to burn in to the previous layer. Encaustic medium in a combination of beeswax and damar resin.

The works are colorfast and stable and will not melt under normal household conditions. Do not place in direct sun light. Clean with a damp cloth.
