This large vintage bonbons tin would likely have graced a store counter selling chocolates and candies by Montreal biscuit company VIAU. Hinged lid with glass inset to show off the contents. The tin has a red body with gold and black litho graphics. The tin sold itself was made for Viau by General Steel Wares Ltd. Montreal.
Measures 10" diameter at base x 7" high. The glass in the lid measures 8" in diameter. In vintage condition with denting, paint loss and discolouration indicative of age and use. Glass lid is intact and has no chips or cracks. A paper label on one side above the Viau graphic is long faded so its text is no longer discernible.
Of interest to collectors of advertising or general store memorabilia, as well as a great decorator tin or stash box.
