Japanese Imari Porcelain Bowl 1970’s Narcissus sold Design made for Gumps San Francisco Signed Kozan Kama PC572
Vintage Japanese Porcelain Kouzan Gama Imari, Round with straight sides bowl. Made in Arita Japan in the late 1970's to early 1980's for Gumps San Francisco.
A beautiful bowl for fruit, floating flowers or simply to admire. In excellent condition with no chips, cracks, breaks or repairs.
So many lovely Imari elements, it's hard to explain its design with any level of proficiency. The main design elements are the lovely alternating panels with a gilded and red rendering of the immoral Phoenix and geometric cross hatch panels in red, turquoise, blue and gold. This series of panels is on the out side and inside of the bowl.
The central design features stunning narcissus flowers in cobalt blues, reds, buttery yellow, teal blue and 22kt gilding. On the bottom there's a beautiful calligraphic Kouzan mark. A great example of the late 20th century's craftsmanship. Made in the Arita region of Japan. Old Gumps foil label is still on the bottom.
