Product code: Frame in triptych Pro Patria 19th century in metal R. Moulin representing a scene of a sold rooster slaying an eagle

This very rare frame in triptych Pro Patria, probably dating from the 3rd French Republic (1870), likly to be in bronze or brass with the inscription R. Moulin, represents the scene of a rooster slaying an eagle, under which the capital of a church with its cross appears.

In symbolism, the Rooster is the emblem of French Gaulle, of the French Renaissance and especially of the French Republic. While the Eagle is the symbol of the French Empire and the Prussian Kingdom. We could read in this beautiful scene that the Rooster, representing the French Replubic, frees itself from French and Prussian imperialism but also from the ecclesiastical domination during the 3rd French revolution of 1870.

I recommend that you take a good look at the images to see its general condition and in particular one of the images on which we can see PROPATRIA and R. MOULIN.
