This thin blade slips easily under crepes or eggs without harming a non-stick pan. A special piece of wood that will stand up to everyday use. An Ambidextrous, oval-shaped handle works well in either hand.
The Maple in this piece is unique: strong, of course, since it's Maple, and Curly with holographic "waterspots" throughout. Additionally, streaks of Spalted (usually caused by water, maybe lightning struck that tree, letting in the rain and snow?) runs along the grain on the blade only.
Meb's spoons are each one-of-a-kind and carved with someone special in mind. All of Meb's Kitchenwares pieces are created in our off-grid workshop in Northeastern Connecticut. We use hand tools along with power tools that Tom has adapted to suit the specific needs of our craft.
Our finishing process is sold meticulous. Each piece is dipped in water to raise the grain before being sanded smooth again. This process is repeated twice, then the piece is hand-rubbed with 2 coats of non-toxic boiled linseed oil and given time in between coats to properly cure. This process ensures our kitchenwares are food-safe, lustrous and smooth with very little care needed after use.
A tag with the Wood Type and Care Instructions is included with each piece.
