"Adventures of Two Youths in a Journey Through Africa" by Thomas W. Knox. Part Fifth of the series "The Boy Travellers in the Far East." Published by Harper & Brothers, New York: 1884. Color lithographed frontispiece protected with tissue guard, as well as many black and white illustrations throughout.

Very nice Victorian book from the Boy Traveller series in its original publisher's binding. The binding consists of blue cloth-covered boards with pictorial black, red, and gold gilt decorations along the front cover and spine. Title and author lettering in bright gold gilt sold also along the front cover and spine. Decorative end papers with maps of Africa.


Size:
Oversize 8vo. (Approx. 7-1/4" over by 9" tall)

Condition:
Minor wear to the corners of the cover boards and spine ends, most notably the bottom end. Otherwise, the exterior has been well maintained over the years with nice pictorial decorations and bright gold gilt detailing. Original owner's name on front free end paper, but otherwise the pages are generally clean and unmarked throughout.
