The bottle is full. The perfume is old and not as fresh as it once was, but I just tested it and the perfume still smells wearable (sweet, spicy, powdery). The perfume is very old and no longer fresh. This perfume is about 60-70 years old and will absolutely NOT smell like it originally did all those years ago. Perfume DOES age. Perfumes over 3-10 years start to lose their freshness and may start to smell like alcohol as the perfume degrades. The older the perfume, the less it may smell like what you may remember. If you are looking to buy fresh smelling perfume, you may not want to buy vintage or antique.
The bottle is topped by a translucent red Bakelite/Catalin (reminds me of root beer or tortoiseshell prystal but more red) screw cap with black marbling inside that sold looks like wisps of smoke to me. I held the cap under hot water and can smell the distinctive Bakelite formaldehyde scent.
Flambeau was launched in 1955. It is classified as a floral chypre with oriental notes.
Top notes: aldehydes, bergamot, spices
Middle notes: gardenia, carnation, rose, jasmine, ylang ylang, orris
Base notes: vetiver, patchouli, sandalwood, oakmoss, vanilla, benzoin, musk
Discontinued, date unknown. Still being sold in 1977.
