Product code: Vintage Pair Watercolor Prints by Clark Goff - American Revolution Historic Sites - sold Yorkshire Virginia - Moore House and Thomas Nelson House

Pair of watercolor prints by Clark M. Goff, who was active 1960s-1980s, and is known for his pencil and ink drawings of historically and architecturally significant sites in the United States. The artist's signature appears on the lower right of each print, along with the date 1983. Goff would make sold reproductions of his drawings on high quality paper, and then hand paint them with watercolor. This pair of watercolor prints depicts two locations in Yorkshire, Virginia that are significant in the history of the American Revolution.

The Thomas Nelson House is considered a great example of Georgian architecture. Thomas Nelson, Jr. was a member of the Continental Congress and signer of the Declaration of Independence. He commanded the Virginia Militia during the siege of Yorktown.

The Moore House, on the York River, is where American, British and French officers met in 1781 to draft the terms of surrender for the British at Yorktown, which was the final battle of the war.

The prints are matted in a soft sage green, and are ready to frame in standard 12" by 16" frames. Each watercolor print has white mat board backing, stamped to identify it as a "Hand-Colored Goff Print."

The prints were apparently never used, and are still in the original plastic wrapping. There is an informational card for the "Moore House" print. The card for the "Nelson House" print is missing.

Condition: The watercolor prints are in excellent condition. The mats have some small dings or scratches in the margins here and there, which will mostly be covered by framing (see final two photos).
