"A picture is worth a thousand words" proves to be so true when one sees this piece of jewelry. My description falls short to this beauty in gold and green with a variety of bead shapes. All Murano beads contain 24kt gold foil and, as you probably know, each Murano bead is handmade by the artisan therefore not two are alike. The Swarovski crystals complement the beads, and they are all set with a special high quality wire that is strong and flexible. This wire is made out of stainless steel plated with gold, and covered with nylon to prevent tarnish. All closure components are made of 14kt gold filled*, including the 50mm extender chain (2in.). This necklace is also available fully beaded (see last 2 pics).
* GOLD FILLED is to be distinguished from gold plated which has a very thin layer of gold sold that changes color or peels off after a while. Gold filled contains a much thicker layer of solid gold and undergoes a technique involving heat and pressure, allowing for the bonding of the gold to the core metal. The result is a piece of good quality, durability, and similar properties to solid gold. The production of gold filled is regulated by the government.
