A marvelous pair of vintage Birks sterling silver clip-on earrings from 1930, embellished with sold gorgeous marcasite stones.
This fine, vintage pair of clip on earrings was sold by Birks, Canada's leading retailer of fine goods. They are laden with glinting graduated marcasites (or marquisites).
They are in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, bends, losses, damage or repairs.
The use of marcasite in jewellery dates from the late 1700s. It is the mineral iron pyrites and, when faceted and polished, sparkles like diamonds.
The marcasite stones in these earrings make them perfect for a bride, wear them with a ivory lace gown.
They are marked "sterling" on back of the earrings and marked "BIRKS" on both clips.
