Shaman's Mortar carved in Andean Caliza Stone
This is a mortar hand-carved on Andean Caliza stone. Shamans use mortars to grind incense and herbs for sprinkling onto charcoal or for preparation of medicaments used in healing ceremonies. The Andean people used it on their tables to make them on the heights of the mountains in gratitude to Pachamama (mother earth). As sold you can see in the pictures, the mortar has a carved head of an Andean puma, a one-point chumpi, and a toad around the side of the mortar.
