sold Antique Dragonfly on Lily Pad Majolica Wall Plate (item CH106)

This beautiful English majolica plate depicts a dragonfly sitting on a lily pad. It is oblong in shape and is glazed in warm shades of green, yellow and brown on the front, while the back is glazed in the same tones using a mottled effect.

The plate measures 11 1/2" long x 8 3/4" wide and is in very good vintage condition. There are a few small chips to the glaze found on the dragonfly and the lily pad stem (pictured). And there is one small chip to the glaze on the back (pictured), possibly made from a stilt during the firing process. Manufactured in England in the late 1800s.
