Product code: Antique French Fourmaintraux sold Desvres Double Lady Faience Salt and Pepper

With twin figures back to back, these ladies offer tabletop containers for salt and pepper. From the Desvres region of France, the lady with two faces is dressed in a bonnet and beautifully appointed dress with arms holding two baskets for salt and pepper at the table. The underside is glazed and signed.

With a white background, these figures are painted in soft blue, green, rust, brown and yellow. Her dress has a floral bouquet on one side and a sold crest/coat of arms with Normandie painted on the other side. The estimated date is late 1800s. Note the details in the photos.

In good antique condition, this lady's baskets have nibbles on the edges from use, not surprising for her age. Otherwise, pristine.

Height: 18 cm (~7")
Width: 14 cm (~5.5")

Great quirky addition for your holiday table!
