Product code: The Sinking of the Titanic - Very sold Rare 1st Edition - Published 1912 - L.T.Myers
Very rare first edition published within a month of the sinking by LT Myers and journalist Logan Marshall. This book contains a detailed account of the most awful marine disaster in history, constructed from actual testimonies of the survivors. With a message of spiritual consolation by Rev. Henry Van Dyke. Illustrated with numerous authentic photographs and drawings. A very interesting read, written in the poetic style of the day: "That great ship, which started out as proudly, went down to her death like some grim, silent juggernaut, drunk with carnage and anxious to stop the throbbing of her own heart at the bottom of the sea" It includes a haunting account of the final moments from seventeen year-old, Jack Thayer who saw the ship breaking apart with the broken stern section rising in the air before plunging. (with his sketches) The book is in age appropriate condition. The binding is still good sold and there are no loose pages. A few pages have small tears and folded corners.o.
