Does not have a key (never did) but “locks” slide to unlatch the top to open the case. Brown faux leather w/ antiqued gold-tone / brass hardware accents. Large embossed “NS” w/ “Newt Scamander” logo on top NWT (tag fell off but is inside case) but it does have some small scratches & imperfections (see photos). Biggest scratches are on the bottom & not noticeable when on display! A couple light scratches on top are not as noticeable. Arrived this way when I first purchased it.
