So here's something fun and special. This ALL NATURAL rainbow hematite comes with an interesting provenance and a fun story from Rock Currier, an interesting and well known, historically important mineral collector and wholesaler who was known for his great story telling, travels, and humor, as well as his interesting finds and the inroads that he made making collecting more accessible and diverse.

So he wrote a story on how these came to the US from Brazil, and I'll link it here so you can see pics of the locale and read the story of how it was obtained and it's hot and cold popularity. Here's the link to Mindat...

I personally think it's beautiful and interesting. I have a thing for natural iridescence, as you can tell by my offerings so I was thrilled to discover that when a barrel of this material was found in a warehouse, I was able to get my hands on some, not very much at all, but I'm thrilled to share it with you.

I LOVE this part of the story Rock tells..."While scrambling around on the inclined slope of the bench of the big iron mine where this outcrop was located, piles of these shards would pile up around my feet. In the bright sunlight it was a bit like standing in a pile of peacock feathers." and... "Every year, there was a festival in the local village and the mine used to fill up a dump truck full of the stuff and take it to town and sprinkle it around on the street to add color to the festival." - Rock Currier

++Please note, as is typical of this type of mineral, it will shed sparkles and hematite powder. That doesn't make it any less valuable or special. Handle with care.++

You get BOTH pieces pictured here with purchase of this listing. I put together sets of complimentary pieces. Hope you like them, too. Both sides of the pieces are pictured, so note that most have sides with stronger iridescence on one side than the other side. Bright light and sunlight make them really POP. One of these has a brighter sparklier look to it and the other is more subtle and satiny.
