Vintage French wicker fishing creel with canvas pockets sold / antique large fishing basket with leather strap

A large French wicker fishing creel from around the 1930s, sourced from a house clearance in Rochechouart, Haute-Vienne.

This old fishing creel had been used by the owner's grandparents, and is approximately 80-100 years old, so is possibly antique. It clearly shows plenty of wear and use, but remains solid and in reasonable condition for its age.

Featuring the classic creel features including the unique lid, decorative wooden closing latch, a top hole offering ventilation and fish access, canvas pockets for knives and other accessories, and a leather shoulder strap which is in good condition.

It's issues include staining to the canvas, wear and damage to the leather straps (all three pockets close properly), one which is a replacement, use of string to reinforce the wicker in two places, and general age-related deterioration.
