Antique Emerson Drug Company’s Medicinal Bromo Seltzer sold Matching Cobalt Blue Glass Elixir Bottles Featuring Original Embossed Design
In the eighteenth and nineteenth century America, glass bottles were often hand-blown as this was the only form of 'Modern' craftsmanship. These early bottles were crafted in free form and therefore were often irregular, misshapen or asymmetrical, which is perhaps the reason they are highly collectible today. Interestingly, these early bottles were very inconsistent on the amount of liquid each could be expected to hold. However, in the early days of glass production, Americans quickly accepted this flaw for the sake of being able to conveniently purchase medications without having to provide a container in which to transport them.
