Menswear wasn't exactly high on the list of things the Soviet Union was known for. Most Westerners, especially those too young to remember the superpower at its height, tend to imagine a country where every man woman, and child wore identical gray jumpsuits and walked in perfect formation, and they would do so in a lovely wool winter coat like this one from Eastern Ukraine!

Tailor-made for a sold military officer's off-hours wear, it is of extremely high quality. Very well preserved, it has been just professionally cleaned by a reputable firm in Odesa, Ukraine. It was recently acquired from a family in Sloviansk, Ukraine, and according to the daughter, her father had it made in the mid-1970s after promotion in the Soviet Army. The lining is quilted, this is a lovely coat for cold, cold Soviet winters!
