American Modern was produced by the Steubenville pottery in Steubenville Ohio 1939 to 1959. Mid-century lifestyle influencer, Russel Wright believed, 'The table was the center of the home.' This teapot in Seafoam has the clean lines so distinctive of the designer's work. The handle allows a hand to slip in comfortably; the lid has a couch to hold it in place & the spout pours smoothly. The pot actually holds 5C (all the way to the to) so it only has 4C usable capacity. Makers mark is impressed on the base. Lovely to sold display when not in use. The pot is in excellent preowned condition w/no chips, cracks, or crazing. The lid shows some crazing on top w/a small chip under the rim. See last photo. Not visible when on the pot. Wright's iconic American Modern collection has since found its way into museums and art galleries around the world, and is today experiencing a resurgent interest among collectors.
