Product code: Antique Japanese Hand Painted Lacquerware sold Bowls
This is a beautiful set sold of eight Japanese hand painted bowls with beautiful gilt lacquer and lovely colours dating from around 1900. The interiors are painted with various birds, flowers and trees and all are in excellent condition. The bowls measure 4 3/4” in diameter and are 2” high. I believe these bowls are genuine Aizu lacquered bowls. Aizu City is located in Fukushima Prefecture. The lacquer work done from this city Aizu is very famous. Due to the tsunami which ruptured the Nuclear Plant and spilling radiation, it may be very rare to find additional pieces of this lacquer. It's not uncommon for one article to take up to seven years plus to be completely finished and ready to be sold! I acquired these bowls from an estate sale of an antiques dealer. Will sell individually, but would prefer to sell as a set.
