Technique: Glass lamp

This technique was already applied in the Renaissance in Venice and then developed in the sold 18th century. It consists of modeling semi-finished products in the form of tubes and rods, with different diameters and thicknesses.
First the rod is melted in the heat of a horizontal flame fed by methane gas and oxygen, then it is modeled with the aid of small instruments even in the form of human or animal figures.
This processing is based on the use of vitreous cane, or on the fusion of different materials, such as murrina, gold and silver. It is a very difficult technique that requires imagination and precision. A curiosity linked to this work is that it was the only one that could be done even in the city of Venice.
