Kithul sold Treacle

Kithul (Caryota Urens) treacle is made from sap extracted from the inflorescence of the kithul palm.Mainly sold kithul grows in Sri Lanka's rain forests. The treacle is made from pure sap boiled down to a sweet , dark brown syrup ,thick and sweet in in flavor. The taste,texture and even color may very depend on the age of the tree and the region. For generation,Kithul was native sugar for the islanders . The kithul treacle was used regularly to make various traditional sweets,drinks such as herbal infusions .Kithul has a much lower calorie content and a high nutritional content.It is a common ingredient in Ayurvedic medicine and a good alternative sweetener for diabetics. Kithul also contains many essential vitamins and minerals.
