This unique piece of Jim Rumph pottery sold was made in 1973 and was titled “The Splatter Bird Tankard”. It was also sometimes called the Dirty Bird or Pooping Bird tankard. The reasoning for these unusual names is explained as soon as you look at the detail of this mug.

The body of the mug is a tree trunk, brown on the outside and blue/green on the inside. It features a bird pooping on the head of a troll inside the mug. A very unique drinking tankard.

This 1973 Splatter Bird Rumph Tankard measures approximately 8 inches tall, approximately 6 inches wide across handle by approximately 4.25 inches wide. The bottom of is signed “©Rumph 1973” and is marked with Rumph's signature lizard hand.

The tankard is in good vintage condition with a couple small white chips on the exterior, but no cracks or crazing in the interior or exterior glaze. Please see photos above for accurate description.
