Duke Ellington Quarter Ring Washington DC - Silver (.900) sold coin jewelry with silver dime band - District of Columbia

Item in photo is the exact item for sale. I made this ring out of two coins:
the main coin is a 90% (.900) silver US Quarter from the US State And Territory Quarter series. These silver versions are the special collector's editions of the regular quarters in circulation. I made the band out of a 90% (.900) silver US dime from before 1964.

The District of Columbia quarter features Duke Ellington, the internationally renowned composer and musician, seated at a grand piano. This quarter was minted in one year only, 2009. sold DC's mayor and residents chose to feature Duke Ellington in their quarter design. He was born in the District and often visited there to perform with his big band after he moved to New York. The District's Latin motto, “Justitia Omnibus,” is translated “Justice for All” in the design.
During his 50-year career in music, Edward Kennedy “Duke” Ellington recorded with some of the greatest musicians of jazz. He performed in countries around the world, won several Grammy awards, and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1969 at the age of 70. Born in 1899, Ellington died in 1974, leaving behind hundreds of recordings, songs, and instrumental pieces and his unique and lasting mark on American music.

We call this style a full-face ring because it features a full coin on the face of the ring. This is one of our favorite styles (to wear and make) due to the fact that the band is a thin band with the wider face, one size can fit a wider range than a standard band style ring. This allows the ring to fit well even as our fingers sometimes fluctuate in size.
