An interesting glimpse of New sold York at the turn of the 20th century by noted journalist, author, dramatist, and Pulitzer Prize for Drama winner, Jesse Lynch Williams (1871-1929). The author takes the reader around New York City through The Waterfront, The Walk Up-Town, The Cross Streets, and Rural New York City. Eighty three half-tone illustrations are listed after the Contents, but no artist credits are given. Some of the signed illustrations are from noted artists, including: Jules Guerin (1866-1910), William Robinson Leigh (1866-1955), Henry McCarter (b. 1864), Ernest Peixotto (1869-1940), and Everett Shinn (1876-1953). Illustrated reproductions of photographs taken in and around New York City show the local sights.
