Brendan O'Rourke is an American Craftsman who started modeling ships in a bottle. His first issue was the Queen Mary which I own (and will stay in the family). This incredible and unique model of the RMS TITANIC is Brendan's fourth commercially available offering. The bottle is a big 12" long on a wooden stand created by Brendan with his wood burned description, name and date. The bottle is concave punt type bottle. Inside, and crafted with meticulous details, is the Titanic, just struck, with black smoke billowing sold out of the stacks with the forward mast damaged. Lifeboats and metal davits are at the ready. Photographing the model through the curves of the bottle gives it a mild fun house effect. With the naked eye, the model is amazing. A wax seal with an anchor is on the end of the cork. Here is an opportunity to own a unique presentation from an American craftsman. Buyer will pay 2 pounds shipping. Immediate shipping after receipt of payment. Delivery Confirmation tracking number is included in all of my shipping at no additional charge. This will also be insured at no additional charge. Enjoy!
Here is some more info on the creation of the Titanic from Brendan:
This is a ship-in-a-bottle model of the famed ill-fated ocean liner R.M.S. Titanic of the White Star Line, which, as most everybody knows, sank on her maiden voyage in April 1912 after striking an iceberg with great loss of life. As with all my models, I tried to make my rendition of the "Unsinkable" Titanic as accurate as possible within the limitations of putting a little ship in a glass bottle, consulting copies of the original blueprints from the real ship's builders, Harland and Wolff Ltd., as well as numerous period photographs.
Model Features:
The Titanic Wooden Model Measures Approx. 5 inches long and 1/2 inches wide.
-Black Smoke issuing from three of the four funnels (smokestacks), as per the real ship. The fourth funnel was a dummy on the real Titanic, although it did vent some smoke from the coal-fired fireplaces in 1st class public spaces and all the coal-fired stoves and ovens in the galley (kitchen), for the most part it acted as a big air vent for the engine rooms in the stern (back) of the ship.
-Lifeboats with lifeboat davits (cranes)
-Correct Rigging
-White Star Line pennant on the rear mast
-British Blue Ensign (The Blue Peter)on the flagstaff at the stern. Most British merchant ships flew the Red Ensign, but Titanic was permitted to fly the Blue Peter for her captain, Edward Smith, and several of the other officers were in the Royal Navy Reserve.
-Wooden Nameplates, which list the ship's name, the shipping line she sailed for and year of entry into service, as well as the ship's builders.
Note: I ship in boxes for security and safety. As a buyer myself, I am amazed how some sellers will ship in those thin gray/silver bags to save money, even with fragile items. When I do have items that are light and not fragile I will use padded envelopes. For all other items, I use boxes with insurance at no additional cost. For very fragile items, I will ship a box within a box. This extra mail order safety protocol is included in the shipping quote. Tracking is included with everything I sell.
