Made with 100% cotton fabric, these beautiful, decorative pillows are handwoven by men and women in Guatemalan highlands of Tzalbal sold Nebaj on footlooms and backstrap looms. Brocade is handwoven on Backstrap looms in Guatemala by Maya female artisans as a family tradition and perfected over more than a century. The loom is very basic, just a few small pieces of wood, but with this simple tool the master weavers create vibrant and intricate textile art works into pillows.
The intricate geo pattern of the pillow is simultaneously embroidered while weaving the base panel. Every element of the design is meticulously hand stitched and woven, a highly skilled process that takes weeks to craft a single piece. A single wide-ranging palette of threads was used across the communities in order to handmade this unique, cozy pillow cover.
